Biography
Dr. Wedig joined the Global Studies Program at the University of Illinois as a Visiting Lecturer in 2008. He earned his Ph.D. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he worked with the ICONS Project in the Center for International Development and Conflict Management. While with the CIDCM, Dr. Wedig was part of a variety of projects related to conflict resolution and negotiation, early warning of conflict and genocide, inter-group cooperation, as well as professional training for public and private organizations in the U.S. and throughout Africa. He is currently conducting research on the use of the internet by social movements as a means of overcoming resource disparities in contentious political environments.
