Biography

Dr. Rosenstein joined the Program in Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security (ACDIS) as Associate Director in 2001, with a stint as Acting Director in 2007-8. Under the guidance of the ACDIS faculty director, he is responsible for oversight and coordination of all aspects of the program’s research, teaching, and public engagement activities.

Rosenstein is the editor of the ACDIS Occasional Paper series and ACDIS Research Report series, and of the ACDIS bulletin, Swords and Ploughshares. Currently, Rosenstein assists the ACDIS director in administering the program’s “Science, Technology, and Security Policy” grant from the MacArthur Foundation. Previously, he managed multi-year institutional grant projects on South Asian security from the National Security Education Program (Department of Defense) and the Ford Foundation.

Rosenstein’s current research interests include regional security of South Asia; politics, political systems, and militancy in South Asia (especially India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh)

Rosenstein completed his Ph.D. in Slavic languages and literatures in 2002 at the University of Illinois. He received his B.A. in Russian, history, and French from Duke University in 1994 and his M.A. in Russian literature from the University of Illinois in 1996.
