Opportunities at ACDIS for Students
Facilitating and actively promoting the study of international security by students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign features as a fundamental aspect of the overall mission of the Program in Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security (ACDIS).
The ACDIS program does not grant degrees at either the undergraduate or graduate level. However, since its establishment in 1978, ACDIS has had a presence in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum at Illinois is a variety of ways. ACDIS impacts students' educational and professional development by:
- providing funding support directly to students in the form of undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships (depending on availability of funds), for activities such as research and travel related to international security
- facilitating development of courses on international security topics by University and ACDIS-affiliated faculty
- generating leading-edge interdisciplinary research on security issues, in turn spurring innovative teaching
- offering periodic lectures, symposia, conferences, and workshops with student attendance and participation
