Prior to starting school at Illinois, Mr. Johnson lived in Ottawa, Illinois, where he studied the Russian language for three years before studying abroad in St. Petersburg to hone his skills. He is a senior in Political Science and Geography who is interested in military and political applications of geospatial intelligence after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May, 2017 with an ACDIS Certificate in Global Security.
Mr. Johnson has been a part of the ACDIS Student Security Group since its inception in 2014. He decided to join the organization due to his love of politics, which eventually grew into a deep interest in national security. As president of the SSG, his duties involve coordinating internal affairs, ensuring all events run smoothly, and making sure student outreach is going as planned.
He believes that ACDIS is a great pre-professional resource for those interested in political science, climate change, nuclear energy, languages and various other topics. “Training people for job interviews, resume-building and finding government jobs are some of ACDIS’ most vital roles and duties apart from connecting students to a vast network of academia, researchers and other students who share similar interests.”
