Core Faculty and Affiliates Policy

ACDIS Core Faculty Policy

• ACDIS Core Faculty are invited to join upon recommendation by other members in the ACDIS Core Faculty.
• ACDIS Core Faculty must have academic appointments with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
• Each ACDIS Core Faculty member will remain Core Faculty unless the faculty member leaves the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, does not comply with ACDIS Core Faculty Policy, or faculty member requests to leave the Program.
• ACDIS Core Faculty research and/or teaching must be relevant to arms control and/or domestic or international security issues.
• ACDIS Core Faculty are encouraged to attend as well as participate as experts and speakers at ACDIS events. ACDIS Core Faculty are expected to participate as a speaker or moderator for one event per academic year.
• ACDIS Core Faculty are encouraged to engage with ACDIS undergraduate and graduate students.

ACDIS Affiliates Policy

• ACDIS Affiliates are invited to join upon recommendation by the ACDIS Core Faculty.
• ACDIS Affiliates must have appointments with academic institutions, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, public sector agencies, or private sector firms.
• ACDIS Affiliates will remain Affiliates unless he/she requests to leave the Program.
• ACDIS Affiliates must have the expertise and perform research and/or teaching relevant to arms control and/or domestic and international security issues.
• ACDIS Affiliates are encouraged to participate as experts or attend ACDIS events and activities.
• ACDIS Affiliates are encouraged to publish policy briefs and opinion pieces through ACDIS.
• ACDIS Affiliates are encouraged to engage with ACDIS alumni and undergraduate and graduate students.

ACDIS Benefits for Faculty

• Publications: ACDIS Faculty and Affiliates may publish their work in ACDIS publications, including research papers, policy briefs, and opinion pieces.
• Presentations: ACDIS Faculty and Affiliates are encouraged to present their work in ACDIS-sponsored events.
• Projects and Grant Coordination: ACDIS Faculty and Affiliates may use the ACDIS network and resources to organize projects and coordinate grants.
• Spotlight on research: ACDIS Faculty and Affiliates have an opportunity to showcase their research and activities on the ACDIS website.

Network and Interdisciplinary Research: ACDIS Faculty and Affiliates will join ACDIS’ network and listserv, and can contact other students and faculty at the University of Illinois who share similar research interests.
